Newton Abbot Market -

Exciting Opportunities for independent businesses

Newton Abbot Market is currently undergoing a major transformation that reflects the town’s history while creating a vibrant, modern space for shopping, eating and community activity. Backed by significant investment from Teignbridge District Council and the Government, it is set to become a flagship destination in the heart of the town centre.

The redeveloped market will include a standalone fresh food hall, a market floor combining retail units, street food units, communal seating and pop-up market/event space, and an upstairs coffee shop/cafe.

The market will trade throughout the day and into the evening, with a mix of core opening hours that work for different types of traders. Retail and produce will open from morning to late afternoon, while street food operators will focus on lunch through to the evening. Shared seating and events will help keep things lively, drawing people in and keeping them around to create a truly mixed-use modern destination. Below are some CGI's that illustrate how the market may look following the redevelopment.

The Council is in the process of appointing a specialist market operator who will take on the day-to-day management, tenant support and programming. Once in place, they’ll finalise the details around the leasing terms and begin working with traders directly.

In the meantime, we’re asking interested businesses to fill out an Expression of Interest form. This helps us shape the offer, understand demand, and make sure you’re the first on the list to receive updates and make an application when trading opportunities go live.

Whether you’re an established business or launching something new, we’d love to hear from you.
