Next Phase has supported Telford and Wrekin Council to rejuvenate Wellington Market, enhancing its value to the community while aligning with the Council’s long-term goals. Our involvement began with a comprehensive performance review, assessing the market’s baseline performance since its acquisition by the Council in 2023. This initial analysis allowed us to identify the market’s core strengths and the opportunities for strategic enhancements, both in its physical redevelopment and in the operational approaches that will deliver a sustainable future.

We explored various management models, conducting a thorough SWOT analysis, presenting comparable case studies, and proposing strategic options tailored to Wellington Market’s unique character and community aspirations. 

These insights informed the development of a clear vision - a space that respects Wellington’s market heritage while offering modern amenities and engaging experiences for all visitors.

A robust business case followed, focusing on maximising socio-economic impact, ensuring the market’s financial viability, and reinforcing it as a community hub. This business case encompasses profit projections and a value-for-money analysis, addressing the interests of council tax payers and market stakeholders alike.
